LT SMP Costs & Funding Options <br />Alternative Funding Options - <br />• Ideal funding sources should be dedicated, renewable and secure, <br />and should be viewed by taxpayers as being reasonably beneficial, <br />equitable and transparent. <br />• Many cities are therefore exploring other funding options for long- <br />term street maintenance programs including: <br />• Grants <br />• Franchise fees <br />• Special legislation <br />• Of these options, only franchise fees offer a dedicated, renewable <br />and secure funding source to help fund cities Iona -term street <br />maintenance programs.
