<br />JUSTIFICATION for
<br />Reclassifications,
<br />New Positions,
<br />Additional Hours
<br />Fire Department staffing levels have not
<br />increased since 2009. Since that time, there
<br />have been increases in calls for service and
<br />city growth with the addition of
<br />residential/commercial properties. This
<br />position will assist with the City's strategic
<br />initiative of improving the safety of the
<br />community and also gain personnel credit to
<br />ultimately lower the ISO classification rating.
<br />This position will be responsible for
<br />responding to calls for service as a firefighter
<br />and conducting code compliance inspections
<br />and performing preplanning activities. This
<br />position will also be responsible for
<br />developing and implementing life safety
<br />education programs. This work will include
<br />preparing and presenting fire prevention and
<br />fire safety education programs, initiating and
<br />maintaining partnerships and
<br />communications with schools, community
<br />groups and businesses; developing brochures
<br />and educational materials for public
<br />distribution.
<br />Assigned to patrol to continue
<br />level of basic services. Based on
<br />estimated growth and calls for
<br />ervice. Strategic Goals:
<br />Improve & maintain safey of
<br />unity, createa strong
<br />positive image and enhance
<br />customer service
<br />This person would be
<br />responsible with helping
<br />aintaI [hec&ysstreets,
<br />storm sewer infrastructure, and
<br />traffic signage. Some of the core
<br />responsibilities would include
<br />street sweeping, snow plowing,
<br />street repairs, and traffic sign
<br />fabrication and installation.
<br />The current part-time admin
<br />assistant has quickly proven to
<br />be a valuable asset to the
<br />Engineering Department by
<br />showing a strong ability to learn
<br />& assist with a wide range of
<br />tasks, and to work
<br />independently in completing
<br />assigned tasks. Increasing the
<br />hours for this position from 20
<br />to 90 hours per week will allow
<br />more tasks to be delegated to
<br />the atlmin assistant allowing the
<br />City Engineer and other
<br />Engineering staff to focus on
<br />higher priority work such as
<br />ompleting corridor studies on
<br />County & State Highways,
<br />developing trail and stormwater
<br />pond maintenance policies,
<br />implementing a city-wide asset
<br />management program &
<br />promoting on-line bidding
<br />through QuestCDN.
<br />This position would replace boil
<br />the current Recreation Program
<br />Intern and the summer park
<br />intern position. Duties would
<br />include coordination of all
<br />Ramsey's recreation programs,
<br />the Draw Summer Event series,
<br />and Happy Days. Duties would
<br />also include asssisting the parks
<br />department with administrative
<br />support tasks.
