EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br />CITY OF RAMSEY OVERVIEW <br />Ramsey is a northwestern Twin Cities suburb in Anoka County with an estimated <br />2015 population of 25,580., and is the second -fastest growing city in Anoka <br />County. It is 28 square miles with 15% wetlands, 565 acres park and open space, <br />and bordered by the Rum and Mississippi Rivers. The City is also known for <br />its unique COR development that encompasses over 400 acres of residential, <br />commercial, retail, educational and recreational uses. The COR is the Twin <br />Cities' first and only mixed -use development on the Northstar Commuter Line that <br />services downtown Minneapolis, and offers a unique transit oriented development <br />providing easy access to home, work, and neighborhood services. Highways <br />10/169 and 47 are two larger transportation routes. <br />As of the census of 2010, there were 23,668 people, 8,033 households, and <br />6,484 families residing in the city of Ramsey. The population density was 821.5 <br />inhabitants per square mile (31 7.2/km2). There were 8,302 housing units at an <br />average density of 288.2 per square mile (111 .3/km2). <br />There were 8,033 households of which 43.9% had children under the age of 18 <br />living with them, 67.6% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female <br />householder with no husband present, 4.6% had a male householder with no <br />wife present, and 19.3% were non -families. 13.7% of all households were made <br />up of individuals and 3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age <br />or older. The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was <br />3.24. <br />The median age in the city was 34.9 years. 28.7% of residents were under the age <br />of 18; 7.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 29.4% were from 25 to 44; <br />27.4% were from 45 to 64; and 6.7% were 65 years of age or older.
