North Dayton Development AUAR <br />suspended solids prior to the discharge of stormwater runoff. Storm water ponds and outlet control <br />structures would be designed and constructed to minimize sediment transport. Storage within <br />detention ponds will be sized to contain a volume greater than or equal to a 2.5 inch rainfall over the <br />contributing area. <br />The majority of the project area consists of loam type soils which may not be suitable for infiltration. <br />Where feasible, infiltration will be the preferred stormwater treatment. Where infiltration is <br />infeasible, credit towards abstraction may be met through soil quality amendments, preservation of <br />undisturbed forest or grassland areas, providing excess wetland buffers, or disconnection of <br />impervious surfaces. Further details on the requirements for these credits are provided in section <br />3.C.ix of the ECWMO `Appendix 0 Rules and Standards'. Additionally, where infiltration is <br />infeasible, biofiltration will be provided for the remainder of the abstraction volume. Where <br />biofiltration is infeasible, filtration through an engineered media to remove soluble phosphorus will <br />be required. <br />Predevelopment phosphorus loadings are based on existing land cover. The MIDS calculator will be <br />used to determine existing suspended solids loading and proposed phosphorus and suspended solids <br />loading onsite. <br />iii. Water appropriation - Describe if the project proposes to appropriate surface or groundwater <br />(including dewatering). Describe the source, quantity, duration, use and purpose of the water use and <br />if a DNR water appropriation permit is required. Describe any well abandonment. If connecting to an <br />existing municipal water supply, identify the wells to be used as a water source and any effects on, or <br />required expansion of, municipal water infrastructure. Discuss environmental effects from water <br />appropriation, including an assessment of the water resources available for appropriation. Identify any <br />measures to avoid, minimize, or mitigate environmental effects from the water appropriation. <br />The project site is located in the North Dayton Service Area and will be served by the City of Dayton <br />municipal water supply system for domestic water use and fire protection (see Figure 17). A city <br />well exists in the northwest part of Dayton that serves the area known as the Historic Village. The <br />construction of a second well on this system is currently being considered for construction (in 2018). <br />The second well is being considered only to serve as a redundant source, and is not required to serve <br />and additional capacity need. Extension of the network required to serve this development, to connect <br />to the system in the northwest, should be considered for an alternate means for gaining the additional <br />capacity (production) required to support the development. The timing of the extension has not been <br />determined and an additional well to the northeast may be required to provide additional water service <br />if the extension is not completed prior to the completion of the proposed development. The project is <br />anticipated to require 150,000 to 170,000 gallons per day based on typical demand factors for the <br />proposed number of residential units as outlined in the following table. <br />23 <br />
