2.3 GOAL 3: ACCESS TO DESTINATIONS <br />The County seeks to strategically improve mobility and reliability at high priority locations <br />on its transportation system. <br />Access to Destinations Objectives <br />With this broad, long-term goal in mind, the County has identified the following objectives <br />to help realize this access to destinations goal by 2040: <br />Increase travel time reliability and predictability for travel on highway and transit <br />systems; <br />Ensure access to freight terminals such as airports, and intermodal rail yards; and <br />Improve multimodal travel options for people of all ages and abilities to connect to <br />jobs and other opportunities. <br />Access to Destinations Performance res <br />Traffic modeling will continue to be used to measure the performance of the transportation <br />system in Anoka County. The Twin Cities Regional Model is described in greater detail in <br />the following sub -section. <br />Twin Cities Regional TravennangiForecafit Model Explanation <br />Anoka County Intersection (Source: Anoka County) <br />The Metropolitan Council maintains <br />a multimodal transportation <br />forecasting model that uses a <br />classic, four -step travel demand <br />modeling process. The Metropolitan <br />Council Travel Demand Model was <br />used for determining future travel <br />conditions on the roadways in <br />Anoka County. The Metropolitan <br />Council upgraded its trip -based <br />model to an Activity -Based Model <br />(ABM) for its 2040 TPP and released <br />its latest version in July 2017. <br />Local communities are required <br />to conduct transportation plan <br />updates using the latest ABM model. <br />ANOKA COUNTY 2040 TRANSPORTATION PLAN UPDATE I CHAPTER 2 -TRANSPORTATION GOALS <br />
