Some of the primary items and issues discussed at these coordination meetings included: <br />Development has not occurred as projected during the year 2030 comprehensive <br />planning process — as a result, the trend for continued expansion of the county <br />highway system is not as significant as in the past; <br />An increasing trend appears to be conversion of underutilized commercial/retail <br />land to multi -family residential; <br />Managing commuter traffic that is using county and city roads to avoid congestion <br />on the major highways; <br />Increased demand and expectation for trails; <br />Need to enhance capacity on TH 10, TH 65 and TH 47; and <br />Need for spot intersection improvements to address congestion and safety <br />concerns (need for traffic signals or roundabouts). <br />5.2 PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT <br />An information meeting was held on <br />March 28, 2018 during the development <br />of the 2040 Transportation Plan. This <br />meeting introduced the planning <br />effort, the purpose and goals of the <br />Plan, and the results of the technical <br />analyses completed as part of the <br />process. Comments from attendees <br />at the meetings were also collected <br />and considered by the Project <br />Management Team (PMT). <br />A web page devoted to the Plan was <br />developed and housed on the study <br />consultant's web site. This page was <br />updated periodically and also provided <br />the opportunity to comment on the <br />Plan.
