This chapter summarizes recommendations from <br />recent plans and studies at the local, regional, <br />and state level regarding roadway improvements, <br />changes in land use, and/or access for principal and <br />A -minor arterials and presents the plans, policies, <br />and processes which help guide and facilitate the <br />ongoing operations of the Highway Department. The <br />chapter concludes with a presentation of the needs <br />and deficiencies that have been identified through <br />this planning process and documented in previous <br />sections of this report. <br />6.1 RECOMMENDATIONS FROM RECENT <br />PLANS AND STUDIES <br />Regional Plans and Studies <br />The Metropolitan Council completed several recent <br />studies (listed below) that provide recommendations <br />for improvements to the principal and A -minor <br />arterial network in Anoka County. <br />» <br />Principal Arterial Intersection Conversion <br />Study (2017) <br />Regional Truck Highway Study (2017) <br />Congestion Management Safety Plan 4 Study (2017) <br />Mn PASS System 3 Study (2018) <br />houlder bus lane sign in Anoka County <br />urce: Anoka County) <br />The relevant findings from these regional studies are summarized in the following sub- <br />sections. <br />INTtR rIoN <br />Final Report ��re <br />Principal ArLerial Intel Lion Conversion Stud y <br />The Principal Arterial Intersection Conversion Study used a <br />data -driven approach that considered mobility, safety, and <br />other factors to provide the region with a prioritized list for <br />possible grade separation projects on non -freeway principal <br />arterials. A total of 13 intersections in Anoka County were <br />categorized as high -priority for grade -separation. Four <br />intersections were categorized as medium -priority for grade - <br />separation and five intersections were categorized as low - <br />priority for grade -separation.
