Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #18-249 RESOLUTION DECLARING A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE COUNCILMEMBER AT - LARGE WHEREAS, Councilmember At -Large John LeTourneau filed an affidavit of candidacy for the vacant Mayoral seat WHEREAS, John LeTourneau was elected to the seat of Mayor at a Special Election held on November 6, 2018, therefore, vacating his seat as Councilmember At -Large; and WHEREAS, pursuant to City Charter Section 2.5, when a vacancy occurs on the Council with 365 days or more remaining in the term of the vacated office, the Council shall, by resolution, declare the vacancy to exist and such vacancy shall be filled by Special Election according to City Charter requirements.; and WHEREAS, the Councilmember At -Large term of office expires January 4, 2021, which is more than 365 days from the November 27, 2018 vacancy date; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows:\ 1. That the City Council publicly declares that a vacancy exists in the City Council — Councilmember At -Large elective office. 2. That as a result of the vacancy in the Councilmember At -Large office, and because more than 365 days remain in the term of the vacated office, pursuant to City Charter requirement, the City Council hereby directs that a special election be held. 3. That staff is directed to determine the date for the Special Election(s) and bring back to the City Council for approval at their December 11 meeting. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained:
