<br />Councilmember Riley introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #18-249 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE COUNCILMEMBER AT- <br />LARGE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />Councilmember At-Large John LeTourneau filed an affidavit of candidacy <br />for the vacant Mayoral seat <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> John LeTourneau was elected to the seat of Mayor at a Special Election held <br />on November 6, 2018, therefore, vacating his seat as Councilmember At-Large; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />pursuant to City Charter Section 2.5, when a vacancy occurs on the Council <br />with 365 days or more remaining in the term of the vacated office, the Council shall, by resolution, <br />declare the vacancy to exist and such vacancy shall be filled by Special Election according to City <br />Charter requirements.; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the Councilmember At-Large term of office expires January 4, 2021, which <br />is more than 365 days from the November 27, 2018 vacancy date; and <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows:\\ <br /> <br />1) That the City Council publicly declares that a vacancy exists in the City Council – <br />Councilmember At-Large elective office. <br /> <br />2) That as a result of the vacancy in the Councilmember At-Large office, and because more <br />than 365 days remain in the term of the vacated office, pursuant to City Charter <br />requirement, the City Council hereby directs that a special election be held. <br /> <br />3) That staff is directed to determine the date for the Special Election(s) and bring back to the <br />City Council for approval at their December 11 meeting. <br /> <br />That the motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Shryock and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor: <br /> <br /> Mayor LeTourneau <br /> Councilmember Riley <br /> Councilmember Shryock <br /> Councilmember Musgrove <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br /> None <br /> <br /> <br />
