CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 01/08/2019 <br />By: Katie Schmidt, Administrative Services <br />7. 4. <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution #19-022 to Hire a Part-time Recreation Specialist <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The Purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire a part-time Recreation Specialist. <br />This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the City's diverse recreational <br />programing. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: <br />• Assist in all aspects of the development, marketing, implemenation, and evaluation of municipal recreational <br />programing and events <br />• Assist the Communications & Events Coordinator in generating social media promotional posts and <br />communications for recreation programs and events <br />• Coordinate, purchase, organize, and deliver supplies, documents and schedules for programs and events <br />• Provide staff support including data entry, phone calls, program registration, reports and records management <br />• Attend programs and events, as needed <br />• Other duties as assigned <br />This is a new part-time regular position replacing the Park and Recreation Intern position. It was created to assist <br />the City's growing recreational programing. In order to fill the new position, an internal recruitment process was <br />conducted. Staff interviewed Ms. Heather Mohr and completed the necessary pre -employment background checks. <br />Staff recommends Ms. Mohr for the part-time regular position of Recreational Specialist, ending her current role as <br />the City's 2018 Administrative Intern. Ms. Mohr will be subject to a 6-month probationary period, the City's <br />Personnel Policy and AFSCME union contract. <br />Notification: <br />This position is approved for approximately 20 hours per week. <br />Funding Source: <br />The funding for this position has been accounted for within the 2019 budget and represents a savings over the <br />amount needed to fund the Parks and Recreation Intern position which has been eliminated. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends hiring Ms. Heather Mohr as the City's new part-time Recreation Specialist, effective on or near <br />January 9, 2019 at $21.34 per hour which is step 1 of the 2019 wage scale. <br />Action: <br />Motion to adopt resolution #19-022 to hire Ms. Heather Mohr as a part-time Recreation Specialist, effective on or <br />near January 9, 2019, at $21.34 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2019 wage scale. <br />
