He believes there should be two openings at <br />Mallard Ponds, but at what cost does that oCcur.: That is the sequence of studies they need to <br />move folwvard. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by counCi!member Elvig, to send this issue back to <br />Engineering and Public Works to look at some alternatives. <br /> <br />Fmlher discussion: Councilmember Jeffrey indicated the opportunity of the cold weather should <br />be used to look at the snowplowing situation. Councilmember Strommen suggested this topic be <br />included on an upcoming Work Session agenda. Councilmember Cook noted looking at what <br />happens to the traffic flows when 142nd Avenue is closed down could be done without affecting a <br />lot of the traffic. Assistant Public Works Director Olson advised there is a little time to work on <br />this issue. The construction project is not due tolbe let until later this summer. The <br />representative of Bolten and Menk worked with MnDOT for a number of years, and he had <br />indicated that the issue is the regional roadway, There needs to be a way to increase the capacity <br />of those roadways, but that can be brought back at a later time. He explained Barium Street xvill <br />not be closed until the construction project occursi and there seems to be some support by the <br />residents for that closure. That needs to be an official action within the next month. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Jeffrey, Olson, <br />Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to support the closure of <br />the Barium Street access onto CR 116 as recommended by staff. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Jeffrey stated when the Barium Street access is closed it <br />should be certain that there is no snow or anything at the gated access that would impede <br />emergency access. Councilmember Elvig suggested roadblocks and traffic counts be conducted. <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied staff will complete some studies before this is <br />brought back to the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Motion cmTied.
