P52 <br /> <br />2) Consider Authorization to Hire a Community Service Officer <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained as part of the 2005 budget a new community <br />service officer position was created. At the regular meeting of December 14, 2004, the Council <br />authorized staff to begin the recruitment process for the community service officer position. An <br />internal process was conducted. Six applications were received and six were interviewed. Staff <br />is recommending the authorization to hire Daniel. Godlewski for the community service officer <br />position. Upon Council approval, Mr. Daniel Godlewski will be hired at an hourly wage not to <br />exceed $14.85 and he would begin employment on or after February 9, 2005. The Personnel <br />Committee recommended the hiring of Daniel Godlewski be authorized. <br /> <br />3) Consider Authorization to Hire Public Works Parks Maintenance Workers <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained as part of the 2005 budget, on December 14, 2004 <br />the Council authorized the creation of two Public Works Parks Maintenance Worker positions. <br />Staff received authorization to begin the recruitment process for two Public Works Parks <br />Maintenance Workers. An internal recruitment process was conducted, two applications were <br />received and interviews were conducted. Staff and the Personnel Committee recommend the <br />Council authorize the hiring of Todd Nelson to the position of Public Works Parks Maintenance <br />Worker. Upon Council approval, Todd Nelson will be hired at an hourly wage not to 'exceed <br />$16.51 and would begin employment on or after February 9, 2005. Staffwill be proceeding with <br />an external recruitment for the other position. <br /> <br />4) LELS Sergeant Contract <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained the LELS Sergeant contract that has been agreed <br />upon is very similar to that of the Patrol Unit, also represented by LELS. The Sergeant contract <br />does include a small wage adjustment. She will answer any specific questions of the Council, <br />Staff and the Personnel Committee recommend that the Council approve 'the City's labor <br />agreement with LELS-Sergeants. The contract, including the proposed language, will be <br />effective January 2, 2005 - December 31, 2005. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated regarding Officer Bluml, he had an opportunity to:ride with him on <br />one of the City's events and he was a very professional young man and a great addition to the <br />force. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated staff concurs. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Pearson, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee for Cases 1 through 4 and adopt Resolution #05- <br />02-045 ending probationary period for Patrol Officer Brad Bluml and granting him the status of <br />regular full-time employee effective January 15, 2005; adopt Resolution #05-02-046 to grant <br />authorization to hire Daniel Godlewski to the position of community service officer at an hourly <br />wage not to exceed $14185.
