Municipal Center received a variance to setbackS ion January 6, 2005, to allow for the building to <br />be setback farther than the TC-1 Zoning District~ allows. The greater setback was reviewed by <br />the Town Center Technical Advisory committee ~TCTAC) and the City Council and found to be <br />acceptable. TCTAC brought forward the folloWing recommendations at the preliminary site plan <br />and revisions have been made in the final site plan submittal: <br /> · The fagade of Sunwood Drive should be!redesigned to become more engaging with the <br /> pedestrian through more architectu.rat animation, more articulation, more depth, and the <br /> inclusion of some roof forms. As part,.o.f:looking at revising the Sunwood Drive fagade, <br /> clements contained on the south iside of t~e building should be considered for integration <br /> into the front fagade. In addition, increasing the amount of glazing along Sunwood Drive <br /> should also be considered; <br /> · The parking area in the northeast part of the site should be removed and replaced with an <br /> extension of the building and/or apPropria.t.e screening. <br /> · The waste disposal area should be remOved from its present location or should be located <br /> inside. <br /> · Additional design treatment should be given to the eastern elevation (Sapphire St.) than is <br /> SllOWtl. <br /> · Screening with a mix of landscapingandidecorative fencing is acceptable for the Police <br /> Department parking lot off o f SapPhire St. <br /> · Further information should be provided about the composition of exterior materials that <br /> will house the mechanical equipment located on the roof. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig stated he is very pleased with this outstanding plan. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Elvig~ seconded by Councilmember Cook, to approve the final site <br />plan for the Ramsey Municipal Center contingent;upon compliance with City Staff Review Letter <br />dated February l 8, 2005, and the platting of the Subject property. <br /> <br />Motion carried. VotingNo: None. ~ <br /> <br />Case #15: <br /> <br />Consider Authorizing Contracts ~for Security, Technology, and Radio <br />Frequency Design Services and ~f0r Commissioning Agent for Municipal <br />Center Project <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained the final phases of design for the new Municipal <br />Center project are currently underway. Along with BKV Group, 3D/I, and staff has been refining <br />the scope of technology, security,' cable TV/broadcasting, and radio frequency components that <br />will be iucluded within the facility. On behalf ol'the City, BKV Group has solicited proposals <br />for security design services from firms that- they have worked with on past projects and qualified <br />vendors in the metro area. BKV Group is recommending the proposal from SecuriCo Inc. for <br />security design for the facility. Staff ha,s. met;with representatives of SecuriCo Inc. and is <br />comfortable with the recommendation from BKV Group.
