Associate Planner Wald indicated Chairman Bell from the Metropolitan Council has been <br />secured to speak at the March BUsiness Network Meeting. The meeting is scheduled for March <br />8th at 7:30 a.m. at The Links. She 'WOuld like to d° a lot of promotion of the meeting and has <br />received a list from Pete Turok frOm the Anoka Chamber of Business that can be used. Member <br />Elvig has suggested information about the meeting be mn in the Anoka newspaper. She inquired <br />if the business community will need to be informed about Chairman Bell's position and <br />requested input on getting out the Promotional pieces. <br /> <br />The EDA discussed the structure and the promotion of the meeting and determined the <br />following: <br /> · A postcard should be distributed in the next two weeks to inform participants that <br /> Chairman Bell has been confirmed and to save the date. <br /> · A bio should be put together on Chairman Bell for distribution with the promotional <br /> information that will be distributed inFebruary. <br /> · EDA members will contact participants about the meeting after the promotional <br /> information has been distributed. <br /> · The meeting will remain aS a breakfast, rather than a luncheon. <br /> · A power point update will be presented dUring breakfast, prior to Chairman Bell's <br /> presentation. <br /> · The following sources will be used to promote the meeting: The Business Connection, <br /> The Anoka newspaper, Anoka Chamber of Business, Elk River Chamber of Business, <br /> and the Metro North Chamber of BUSiness. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald indicated the power point Presentation will be brought to the March <br />EDA meeting for input from the EDA. <br /> <br />Economic Development/TIF Specialist Sullivan rePorted the EDA redevelopment signs are <br />complete and have been placed on the Spohn rental site, the former Cox property, and the <br />Bakestar and Martin property. <br /> <br />Economic Development/TIF Specialist Sullivan rePorted the following on EDA projects: <br /> · Negotiations have re-opened With B & A Cylinder. In his opinion the number the owner <br /> came out with initially waSquite high. The negotiations have been reopened on the <br /> owner's part. <br /> · Staff is in contact with the Owner of the Debee property and is beginning negotiations to <br /> purchase the property. He will be meeting With the owner tonight, and they seem very <br /> interested in selling. <br /> · An offer of $225,000 will be submitted on the Amoco property, contingent on Council <br /> approval. If purchased, this'property wilt be demolished and redeveloped. He explained <br /> the sale price being offered by BP is under the tax-assessed value. It is the opinion of the <br /> City Attorney that an appraisal does not need to be completed since the offer is lower <br /> than the tax-assessed value.
