Our !Almon: To work together to respcaibty grow Our community, and to provide quality, COM4ffeciive, and efficient government ser ices. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 03/26/2019 <br />By: Katie Schmidt, Administrative Services <br />4. 9. <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Adopt Resolution #19-070 Appointing and Re -appointing Board and Commission Members <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to appoint and re -appoint members to the City's Boards and Commissions. <br />The City Council is responsible for appointing board and commission members to the Economic Development <br />Authority (EDA), the Environmental Policy Board (EPB), the Park and Recreation Commission and the Planning <br />Commission. It should be noted that the Mayor, per Minnesota Statute469.095 has authority over the EDA <br />appointment. <br />Staff conducted the annual boards and commissions recruitment process for terms beginning April 1, 2019. <br />Vacancies were advertised in the Ramsey Resident, the Anoka County Union, on the City's website, on QCTV, on <br />the City's Facebook, and via the City's email notification system. <br />Board or commission members with terms set to expire on March 31, 2019, were contacted and asked if they <br />desired reappointment or not. If yes, each member submitted a letter of interest and the Chair, Vice -chair or senior <br />member of the respective commission was invited to submit their recommendations. <br />The City Council reviewed the incumbents' materials and it was the consensus of the City Council to re -appoint the <br />following incumbent members to new terms beginning April 1, 2019. <br />• Reid Bernard to the Environmental Policy Board for a 4-year full term <br />• Brandon Sis to the Park and Recreation Commission for a 4-year full term <br />Per Minnesota Statue 469.095, pertaining to the Mayor's authority to appoint members to the Economic <br />Development Authority (EDA), Mayor LeTourneau indicated that he will select Ms. Shang Berg to be appointed to <br />the EDA; and by majority consensus, the City Council indicated approval with the Mayor's selection. <br />Nine new candidates were interviewed by City Council. By consensus, the City Council recommends the following <br />individuals be appointed to the City's boards and commissions. <br />•Shang Berg to the Economic Development Authority for a 5-year partial term <br />•Susan Barnes to the Park and Recreation Commission for a 1-year partial term <br />•Nathan Barten to the Park and Recreation Commission for a 4-year full term <br />•Jennifer Shoemaker to the Park and Recreation Commission for a 4-year full term <br />•Torrey Johnson to the Planning Commission for a 4-year full term <br />•Eric Peters to the Planning Commission for a 4-year full term <br />
