CASE

CONSIDER NAMING THE DRIVE IN ELMCREST PARK IN HONOR OF
YOUTH VOLUNTEERS
By: Leonard Lint°n, Civil Engineer II

Background:
The City received a request to name the access road from Quicksilver Street into the park,
Cascy Parkway to honor Bill and Kelley CaSey for theft many years of service to youth
through Ramsey Youth Athletic Association and other organizations.

Observation:

The City Administrator has suggested that this proposal go to the Park and Recreation
Commission then to a City Council work session for review. It should be noted that the
existing driveway from Quicksilver is temporary and will be realigned inthe future when
the adjacent properties develop. The access drive will be gravel until the permanent
access is constructed. Naming a gravel drive may not convey the honor that is intended.
Staff recommends researching facility naming policies used in other cities and compiling
a summary of these policies for review at a future meeting.

Commission Action:

Motion to request staff to compile a summary of naming poliCies used in other cities and
bring the summary to a future meeting.

Reviewed by: '
Assistant Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer
Parks and Utility Supervisor

P&R: 03/10/05
