This recreational benefit is not currently available in the City park system so <br />maintaining this program until a swimming pool is available in town makes good sense. <br />The Ramscy Town Center Development will be bringing more new residents to the City <br />and we should continue to maximize the variety and quantity of recreational opportunities <br />and this program helps this effort. The savings realized by the residents that have <br />participated in the program exceeds the cost to the City. <br /> <br />The minutes from the 2004 Finance Committee and City Council meetings are attached. <br />The motion was approved without discussion. Continued support of the program has been <br />questioned in previous years since the number of participants is small as related to the <br />overall City population. <br /> <br />Staff recommends that if the Commission approves continuation of the program then <br />availability of the program be better promoted through the Ramsey Resident, City <br />Website and other publications. <br /> <br />Commission Action: <br /> <br />Motion to approve/deny the continued participation in the Anoka Aquatics Program.
