NOTE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINLrrES <br /> <br />The City Council meeting minutes were duly noted and discussed. <br /> <br />GOMMISSION BUSI/N~ESS <br /> <br />C2se #1; Discussion of Business D. evelopment 2nqt Appreciation Da), <br /> <br />The Commissioners were given a summary of events and their times for the day <br />by Commissioner Ippel. The aid of the Commissioners was requested by <br />Commissioner tppe] to solicit prizes for the activities of the day. <br /> <br />Case #2; The Star City Business Retention ~nd Expansion Program <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission received the survey package for the 1989 <br />Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Program. The process should be <br />completed by November 15, 1989. It was also noted that communities which <br />submit their completed surveys by October 23rd would received special <br />consideration. Chairman Wagner and Commissioners Ippel and Fults will be <br />speaking with Community Development Director Mark Banwart regarding this <br />survey. The Economic Development Commission feels that gaining Star City <br />status is a worthwhile goal. <br /> <br />Case #3; Discussion of City participation in Flagship Industrial Park <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission would like to put together a complete <br />concept to present to City Council. The Commission also discussed making a <br />request of City Council to staff a person whose job description is exclusively <br />devoted to the purpose of economic development. The Commissioners will be <br />composing an outline expressing the necessary qualifications for the position and. <br />the reasons they feel it is necessary to create this position. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Ippel and seconded by Commissioner Fults to <br />bring this matter to City Council upon completion of the outline by the Economic <br />Development Commission. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Wagner, Commissioners Ippel, Fults, <br />Gorecki, Vevea, Hardin, and Wiley. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners <br />Greenberg and Muller. <br /> <br />Case #4: Discussion of establishment; of Economic Development Authority <br /> <br />This case was tabled due to lack of time. <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission / September 13, 1989 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
