Title: Request permission to Cancel Pact Charter School Lease Agreement at 6701 Hwy 10 Purpose/Background: Purpose: The purpose of this case is to request permission to cancel Pact Charter School's lease for bus storage at 6701 Hwy 10 and use that space for public works vehicle storage. Background: Pact Charter currently leases approximately 7,300 square feet of space for bus storage. The current lease is a 5 year term starting August 1st 2015 and is scheduled to run through July 31st 2020. The current rate is $685.43/month and is scheduled to increase to $706.00 August 1st 2019-July 31st 2020. Notification: To cancel the lease agreement 60 days written notice to the tenant (Pact Charter School) is required. The cancellation of the lease, if approved, would happen after the current school year, so there would be no potential disruption to bus service . Observations/Alternatives: As council is aware, city staff has been researching several stop gap options to increase temporary storage and office space for the PW department, until a new PW campus can be built. The space is not heated and nor would any PW staff be working out of that location. The additional space would be used to store our "off season" equipment and provide more room at our current location. Funding Source: No funding would be required, but lease revenue would be lost. If the lease is canceled, the city would file for tax exempt status on the additional space. Recommendation: Staff recommends terminating the lease with Pact Charter School at 6701 Hwy 10 and use the space for additional equipment storage for the City of Ramsey Public Works Department. Action: Motion to accept staff recommendation and terminate the lease with Pact Charter School at 6701 Hwy 10 and use the space for additional equipment storage for the City of Ramsey Public Works Department.
