Our !Almon: To work together to respcaibty grow Our community, and to provide quality, COM4ffeciive, and efficient government invoices. <br />CC Regular Session 7. 3. <br />Meeting Date: 04/09/2019 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative <br />Services <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Adopt Resolution #19-088 to Hire a Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is for the City Council to authorize hiring a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance <br />Worker. <br />As part of the 2019 budgeting process, the City Council approved a new full-time Public Works Streets <br />Maintenance Worker to be added to the Streets Division. With this new position, the City will have five Streets <br />Maintenance Workers. The Street Maintenance Worker position is responsible for constructing and maintaining <br />streets, parking lots and related property; performing snow related activities; performing general maintenance <br />activities; performing general labor; performing vehicle and motorized equipment maintenance; performing and <br />assisting with landscape, grounds care, and forestry/naturalist activities; providing assistance with preparation of <br />community events; performing mechanical building maintenance and repair; as well as a wide range of other tasks <br />as required. <br />Staff conducted an external recruitment process and interviewed Mr. Vaughn Ihkre. Mr. Ihkre subsequently <br />participated in the City's pre -employment testing process. The City extended a contingent job offer pending City <br />Council approval. If hired, Mr. Ihkre will be subject to a six-month probationary period, the personnel policy and <br />the AFSCME labor agreement. <br />Funding Source: <br />The 2019 funding for this position, including benefits, is approximately $50,312 and has been included in the 2019 <br />budget. The funding required is approximately $7066 less than anticipated due to a late April start date rather than <br />March 1st as was initially planned. <br />Recommendation: <br />To hire Mr. Vaughn Ihkre as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker, effective on or near April24, <br />2019, at $22.37 per hour which is step 1 of the 2019 wage scale. <br />Action: <br />Motion to adopt resolution #19-088 to hire Mr. Vaughn Ihkre as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance <br />Worker, effective on or near April24, 2019, at $22.37 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2019 wage scale. <br />Attachments <br />
