Our Mistioi}: To work together to reipoiibly grew our comma nityr, and to provide quality, cent-oliBcdwe, and efficient government services.
CC Regular Session 7. 1.
Meeting Date: 04/23/2019
By: Sean Sullivan, Community
Development
Information
Title:
Adopt Ordinance #19-07 Authorizing the City of Ramsey to Sell one (1) Parcel of Real Property
Purpose/Background:
As required by the City Charter, the City of Ramsey must pass an ordinance to declare and sell surplus city -owned
land no longer needed for current or future city functions. The purpose of this case is to adopt such an ordinance
The total number of parcels identified within this ordinance is One (1). See attached site map.
The City has listed the north 9.3 acres of Lot 1, Block 1, Bury and Carlson Addition for industrial development per
direction by the City Council and EDA. This 9.3 acres has been identified as surplus city owned property. The
remainder of Lot 1, Block 1, Bury and Carlson Addition (approximately 10.08 acres) will be retained for the future
Public Works Facility. Staff is working with an Anderson Dahlen, an existing Ramsey business to develop the 9.3
acre site.
This ordinance does not approve the sale, or require the sale, of city -owned land. This ordinance simply allows the
city to sell city -owned land. Individual land transactions will be reviewed and approved on a case -by -case basis, in
the future, depending on the merits of individual proposals
Notification:
After adoption, a notification of this ordinance will be posted in the Union Herald.
Observations/Alternatives:
This is a standard process in the sale of developable land. The City Council previously passed an ordinance(s) for
other City -Owned Parcels being marketed for sale. However, due to layers of uncertainty, this parcel was
intentionally not included. That uncertainty has now been removed, and the sale process can move forward.
Funding Source:
This case is being handled as normal Staff duties.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that City Council adopt Ordinance #19-07.
Action:
Motion to adopt Ordinance #19-07, Authorizing the City of Ramsey to Sell One (1) Parcel of Real Property no
longer needed for current or future City functions.
