CC Regular Session 7. 7. <br />Meeting Date: 04/23/2019 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative <br />Services <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution #19-091 Hiring Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers and Temporary Interns <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers and <br />Temporary Interns. Annually the City employs Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers to perform work in <br />the Parks, Streets, and Utilities Divisions of Public Works and Interns to work in Administrative Services, <br />Community Development, Engineering, and Parks. <br />The process to fill these positions includes an open competitive recruitment, interviews, background checks, <br />pre -employment testing, City Council approval to hire and on -boarding. <br />At this time, staff selected two qualified seasonal candidates and two qualified interns. All candidates have passed <br />the pre -employment screenings and staff recommends hiring the candidates listed below. <br />Notification: <br />Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers pay: The pay scale is $11.00 per hour, with a .25 cent increase for <br />each returning season, to a maximum of $12.00 per hour. Employees hired for this position must be at least 18 <br />years of age, but are not required to hold a commercial drivers license. <br />Intern pay: The pay scale is $12.00 per hour to $14.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. <br />Funding Source: <br />The funding required to fill these positions is included within the approved 2019 budget. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends hiring the following 2019 employees on or near the dates listed below: <br />1) Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers: James Kroll, effective April 29, 2019 at $11.00 per hour; and <br />Jerry Hutchinson, effective April24, 2019 at $11.25 per hour; and <br />2) Temporary Interns: Administrative Intern, Jay Elmquist, effective, May 13, 2019 at $13.00 per hour; and <br />Planning Intern, Elliot Mohler, effective May 20, 2019 at $14.00 per hour. <br />Action: <br />Motion to adopt resolution #19-091 to hire the following employees on or near the dates listed below: <br />Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers: James Kroll, effective April29, 2019 at $11.00 per hour; and Jerry <br />Hutchinson, effective April24, 2019 at $11.25 per hour; and <br />Temporary Interns: Administrative Intern, Jay Elmquist, effective, May 13, 2019 at $13.00 per hour; and Planning <br />Intern, Elliot Mohler, effective May 20, 2019 at $14.00 per hour. <br />
