Street Supervisor Riemer replied that most of the information they presented to the Committee is
already included in the Ramsey Resident. Staff is discussing the idea of including information on
the City's website as well.
Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler noted that the Public Works staff does a great job at
keeping the public safety buildings open during snow events.
Street Supervisor Riemer noted that another issue they will need to consider in the near future is a
covered salt storage facility.
Mayor Gamec inquired if they would be looking at a completely enclosed building or outside
storage with a cover.
Street Supervisor Riemer explained that it would be an area bunkered in with a canopy over the
top to protect the different types of chemicals.
Street Supervisor Riemer requested that if any Councilmembers receive a complaint about snow
plowing have them contact City Hall and leave him a message on his voicemail. All complaints
will be responded to.
Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler noted that staff does track all of the complaints
throughout the season.
No action required.
Case #2: Consider Transportation Consulting and Advocacy Services
Assistant Director of Public Works Olson stated that the City Council authorized City staff to use
the services of The Tinklenberg Group for the Highway #10 corridor. At this time staff was
requesting authorization to enter into a new agreement with the Tinklenberg Group to continue
working with the federal government and MnDOT for potential grant opportunities along the
Highway #10 corridor.
Elwyn Tinklenberg, The Tinklenberg Group, introduced Jodi Ruehle and Dan Krom (former
federal liaison for MnDOT) from the Tinklenberg Group. Mr. Tinklenberg explained that the
AUAR draft has been completed and submitted for public comment, which ended on November
12`h. They did receive some comments regarding the AUAR and are in the process of drafting
those responses. He explained that completing the AUAR was a way for the City to enable them
to utilize tools to manage the corridor, especially in the way of right of way. The process is going
very well. They are currently going through the tasks for official mapping the Highway #10
corridor and it should be completed about the time the moratorium expires. They have now been
requested by staff to continue working on additional tasks which would include continuing
communication with property owners, coordination with MnDOT, and pursuing federal funding
options by working with Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Oberstar, Mr. Dayton and Mr. Colemen. Mr. Krom
will be an important part of that process because he has several connections on the federal level.
Public Works Committee/November 18, 2003
