• Public Spaces are areas within the project site that invite public use and provide space for
community interaction. Eligible spaces are intentionally designed spaces, such as plazas, squares,
greens or courtyards, that serve to create an identity, a focal point of, or gateway to the
development. Playgrounds, tot lots, neighborhood parks, or general amenity areas primarily for the
use of the development project's tenants are examples of spaces that do not meet eligible public
space criteria for Livable Communities. Well -designed public spaces can foster civic engagement,
build social connections, catalyze economic development, demonstrate environmental
sustainability, and contribute to the unique sense of identity of a project area or neighborhood.
• Site Improvement means demolition and removal of obsolete structures; grading or soil correction
to prepare a site for construction.
23
