EMPLOYMENT TRENDS <br />Covered Employment and Wages by Industry <br />Table E-3 presents covered employment numbers as available for the City of Ramsey from 2008 <br />through 2018. Covered employment data is calculated as an annual average and reveals the <br />number of jobs in the designated area, which are covered by unemployment insurance. Many <br />temporary workforce positions, agricultural, self-employed persons, and some other types of <br />jobs are not covered by unemployment insurance and are not included in the table. Some agri- <br />cultural businesses and employees are listed in Table E-3, but not all positions are included. The <br />data in both tables is sourced from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic <br />Development. The following are key trends derived from the employment data: <br />• Between 2000 and 2018, the number of jobs increased in Ramsey by 2,884, an 89% increase <br />in the City. Manufacturing gained the greatest number of jobs (784 jobs) between 2010 and <br />2018. The Information industry was the only sector to decline, decreasing by 9 jobs be- <br />tween 2010 and 2018. <br />• As of 2018, the Manufacturing sector accounted for the largest share of employment in <br />Ramsey, with 2,370 employees accounting for 39% of employment. Between 2015 and <br />2018, the Manufacturing sector has grown by 245 employees, an increase of approximately <br />11%. <br />• The next two largest employment sectors were the Trade, Transportation and Utilities sec- <br />tor, which accounted for 24% of employment in 2018 and the Education and Health Services <br />sector, which accounted for 13% of employment. <br />• Between 2015 and 2018, the Trade, Transportation, and Utilities industry experienced the <br />largest growth in the city, adding 292 employees, a 25% increase.
