7.5.3.4 Estimated Cost <br />Approximately $500-$2,500. City staff time and, potentially, Wellhead Protection Consultant costs. <br />7.5.3.5 Goals Achieved <br />The residents of Ramsey will become more aware of wellhead and source water protection issues and the <br />actions Ramsey is taking to protect the municipal water supply. Education of the residents should lead to <br />a better awareness of pollution prevention among the City's population. <br />Success criterion: Posting of Wellhead and Source Water Protection Program information on the City and <br />Know the Flow websites according to the schedule identified in section 7.5.3.3. <br />7.6 Inclusion of Wellhead and Source Water Protection in the <br />Planning Process within the DWSMAs <br />Copies of this WHPP amendment will be supplied to the City's Planning and Development Department so <br />that they are aware of the Wellhead Protection Program. The Wellhead Protection Manager will work with <br />the Planning and Economic Development Departments to determine the best way to ensure that the <br />City's planning and development process is consistent with the goals and objectives of this WHPP. <br />Options that may be discussed could include developing checklists related to wellhead protection for use <br />in the planning review process, development of guidelines (based on MDH guidance) regarding when to <br />allow storm water control facilities in the DWSMAs, adjustments to zoning, amendments to the City Code, <br />communication with other members of the ACMWPG regarding their efforts in this area, and available <br />resources from Metropolitan Council. <br />7.6.1 Source of Action <br />City staff <br />7.6.2 Cooperators <br />ACMWPG, Metropolitan Council <br />7.6.3 Time Frame <br />The Wellhead Protection Manager and those responsible for City planning and economic development <br />will determine, within two years of approval of this WHPP, how best to incorporate wellhead and source <br />water protection into the City's development, zoning, and planning processes. <br />7.6.4 Estimated Cost <br />Approximately $3,000-$5,000. Costs to complete this task will include staff time to develop a process for <br />including wellhead protection in the planning process and to review proposals that could affect the <br />municipal wells and associated DWSMAs. <br />Success criterion: Implementation of a method for incorporating wellhead and source water protection <br />into the City's development, zoning, and planning processes. <br />32 <br />
