City of Ramsey — Position Description <br />Position Title: Deputy City Administrator <br />Department: Administrative Services/Community Development <br />Reports to: City Administrator <br />FLSA Status: Exempt <br />Date: June 1, 2014 <br />POSITION SUMMARY: The Deputy City Administrator is responsible for <br />the planning and implementation of assistance programs for development and redevelopment of residential, <br />commercial and industrial lands that help shape a vibrant, sustainable community. <br />In addition. the Deputy Citv Administrator works to provide cross functional <br />administrative proiect leadership. capital development proiect administration. and management analysis for the <br />organization. This draft position descriotion is not a complete description of the role of the Deputy City Administrator. <br />Staff will provide additional information when this position is reviewed with the City Council. <br />PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: <br />Values -based management: The Community Development Director is expected to model behavior and <br />maintain a culture that is consistent with the City's organizational core values of Ethics and Integrity, <br />Fiscal Responsibility, Cooperation and Teamwork, Open and Honest Communications, Excellence and <br />Quality in the Delivery of Services, Treating People with Respect and Fairness, and Adaptability and <br />Continuous Learning. These values are the foundation of all decisions. <br />Mission -focused strategic direction: The Community Development Director effectively working with <br />staff, City Council, appointed Commissioners and external partners, is responsible for helping plan and <br />implementation of the residential and commercial development for the city. <br />Voice of the City's Community Development: The Community Development Director is the 'go to <br />person' for the City for professional planning advice about residential and commercial development <br />projects, questions and issues. <br />Fiscal health and accountability: The Community Development Director is responsible for helping to <br />maintain the fiscal health and transparency of residential and commercial development projects. <br />MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, Public Administration, or a closely related field and <br />more than five years professional experience in leading/managing development and marketing initiatives within <br />a community or experience related to Community Development; or municipal planning and development <br />experience. <br />Desirable Qualifications: <br />Master degree in Urban Planning or a closely related field and proven municipal planning experience. <br />SUPERVISION: DIRECTION RECEIVED and/or GIVEN <br />Formatted: Font: Not Bold <br />
