PUBLIC WORKS EXPERIENCE
MANKATO
TRANSIT FACILITY
The building is an addition to the existing,1960's City
of Mankato Public Works Facility, which was recently
purchased and inhabited by the City of Mankato from
MnDOT. The bus parking area is approximately 40,000
square feet of parking far up to 35 full size buses. This
was a requirement of the Federal Transit Authority
funding to accommodate a future, larger, regional bus
fleet. The maintenance bays include a full drive-thru
bay that allows for full height lifting of the bus for
undercarriage maintenance and also features a pull -in
/ pull-out in -ground oil changing pit, which is the
preferred method for changing oil on this type of vehicle.
Some of the features of this project that were implemented
include bird -safe glass, increase stormwater management
practices, increased mechanical and electrical equipment
control and sensitivity and renewable energy generation
(solar panels),
RAMSEY PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY PROPOSAL 19
