Case #1 2005 Workplan Scan M. Sullivan, Economic Development/TIF Specialist Megan Wald, Associate Planner Background: At the March 9, 2005 EDA meeting, Staff and the EDA discussed a 2005 workplan. During the meeting, the EDA spent a great deal of time establishing a workplan outline. Subsequent to the meeting, staff attempted to further organize the outline and to add upon ideas established by the EDA. Attached to the case is a copy of the workplan. In the process of' working through the draft workplan outline, it became apparent that there were a few areas that staff needed to obtain further direction from the EDA, these areas include: Development/Redevelopment · Continuing to be more active in discussions and projects related to transportation (Work with appropriate body, i.e. City Council, Anoka County). · Creation of another Business Park(s) / Small Lot Development (Phone Call) Marketing · ' Continue to work of City Name recognition (Could be taken care of as part of PR Firm/new marketing piece). Staff' also spent a great deal of time updating information related to the City's business/industrial park inventory and industrial/commercial leasing opportunities. The updated information is attached to this case for the EDA's information. It should also be noted that this formation is now on the City's website in a user friendly version. Additional insight or ideas the EDA has regarding appropriate information to be included on the City website, could be addressed as part of discussions ensued during the draft workplan. Recommendation: It is staff's opinion that the workplan is very comprehensive and conforms with projects and direction completed in the past by the EDA. Staff would like to discuss the updated draft workplan, receive additional direction in certain areas, and request that the EDA adopt the workplan. EI)A Action: Motion to adopt the 2005 EDA Workplan.
