CASE <br /> <br />CO~SIDER REQUEST BY ANOKA COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTIOb/PLANS FOR CRll6 PROJECT <br /> By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />A~noka County is in the final stages of preparing plans for a project anticipated to take <br />place late this summer which includes the signalization of the intersection of CR 116 and <br />Dysprosium Street/Thurston Avenue and the creation of a four lane, divided roadway <br />section between this intersection and TH 47. <br /> <br />A set of final plans have been prepared and presented to the City for-review and the <br />County has requested that the City authorize' signature of these plans. Attached are <br />several plan sheets which illustrate the major design elements of the project. Several <br />sig, nificant elements are: <br /> <br />The project will not be done under traffic, but will be closed to through traffic to <br />facilitate quicker and less costly construction. The detour plan is attached. <br />Barium Street (a private roadway into the' mallard Ponds subdivision) will be <br />closed. <br />A median will be installed from TH 47 to Iodine Street which will prevent left <br />turns from streets and private drives throughout the section,' except at <br />Dysprosium Street. <br />A trail section along the north side ofCR 116 will be reconstrUcted 'and extended <br />west to Germanium Street. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the Committee recommends to City Council that staff be <br />author/zed to sign the plans for the CSAH 116 Thurston Avenue/Dysprosium Street <br />project. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend to City Council that staff be author/zed to sign the plans for the <br />CSAH 116 Thurston Avenue/Dysprosium Street project. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief <br />Assistant Public Works Director/Principal Engineer <br />Police Chief <br /> <br />PW: 03/15/05 <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br /> <br />
