<br />Councilmember Heinrich introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #20-034 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2020 FORD BROOK PLAYGROUND <br />RENOVATION CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />Ramsey City Council and Park and Recreation Commission recognizes the <br />importance of Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation to the quality of life for Ramsey residents; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />Neighborhood Parks are essential areas for play and creative and cognitive <br />; <br />expression, as well as the positive physical development of childrenand <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />Ford Brook Park’s play equipment is vastly outdated and no longer meets <br />; <br />certain play equipment guidelines, nor acceptable play valueand <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />renovation and reinvestment in existing parks represents a commitment and <br />service to residents throughout the City, and supports favorable property values and sustaining <br />neighborhoods, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the Park and Recreation Commission conducted a Listening Session at Ford <br />Brook, and solicited specific feedback on residents’ desires for the park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the Park and Recreation Commission developed a menu of improvements <br />th <br />responding to the Ford Brook Park neighborhood’s desires, and on February 13, 2020 <br />recommended to City Council the implementation of the associated Capital Improvement Project. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> <br />1) That, up to seventy five thousand ($75,000), are hereby allocated from the Lawful <br />Gambling Improvement Fund, for the purchase and installation of play equipment and <br />related improvements, and further to direct staff to implement the other park renovations <br />recommended by the Park and Recreation Commission on February 13, 2020; and <br /> <br />2) That, the existing play equipment within Ford Brook Park be declared surplus property <br />and that staff is hereby directed to dispose of it in the most fiscally responsible manner <br />possible. Further, that if sold, purchasers must sign a liability waiver, approved by the <br />City, absolving it from any liability. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
