CONSIDER OUTDOOR MEETING SCHEDULE By: Mark Riverblood, Parks & Utilities Supervisor Background: For many years, the Park and Recreation Commission has held regular meetings outdoors in the mond~s of May through September or October (weather pending). This provided the Commission an opportunity to inspect and comment on parks as a group and it afforded residents' access to the Commission on a neighborhood level. On the occasions of inclement weather, the Commission has conducted the regular meetings at 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station #1. The purpose of this case is to confirm the Commission's desire for outdoor meetings in 2005 and, if so, what the locations will be. Observations: Thc past few years, City Council has joined the Commission in June for a joint meeting. For this year, this could take place at Alpine Park as the Discovery Garden project is scheduled to be concluding at about this time. The following is a proposed schedule with an opportunity noted in brackets as a rationale. M ay: Flintwood Terrace Park (Observation Pier ribbon cutting) .hme: Alpine Park (Discovery Garden completion sheduled) ,luly: Central Park (Review building plan/progress) August: Town Center (Review progress on first phase park construct/on) Sept: £lmcrest Park (Review city installed trees with spade - discuss landscape and building needs) Oct: -tentative- (Discuss in september) After the Commission decides where the meetings will be held, their locations will be published in the Ramsey Resident newsletter and on the web.
