The prevalence of social media in day to day lives is on the rise. <br />Today, a larger portion of the population can access a wide <br />variety of social media sites from their mobile device, tablet or <br />desktop and can use it as a central hub for news, information, <br />and events. This is especially true in the younger populations. <br />The City may utilize this powerful tool to quickly connect <br />residents to opportunities in their area, encourage them to <br />share events with their friends, connect with partners, and reach <br />potential new users. As convenient and useful as social media <br />can be, it is not inclusive of the entire population. According to <br />the NCS survey, 63 percent of Ramsey residents are either very <br />or somewhat likely to engage with the City on Facebook, 38% <br />percent are not likely at all. These proportions will continue <br />to change technology advances. [(branding strategies for <br />consistency, 'branding enhancing' make us recognizable as <br />a city and as a recreation service provider, make us more <br />reputable]] ((important for those outside of the community to <br />see, sense of unity, easily identifiable brand]] <br />To be most effective with program promotion, a mix of these <br />services may be used to reach the broadest portion of the <br />community. Publications in the Ramsey Resident can be used <br />to deliver broad information to a large portion of residents, <br />with a notice to look at the website for full listings or programs <br />of interest. Events may be created on social media platforms <br />to quickly spread the word about new offerings and reach <br />new users. For registration and details, the social media event <br />posting may redirect users the City website. As parks and <br />recreation opportunities expand, an automated monthly email <br />newsletter or text alerts may become beneficial to notify users <br />of new opportunities. <br />Other methods may include flyers, signs, banners and other <br />public postings. Yard signs have been effective in the past for <br />select events and way -finding for community events.
