PRIORITIES/GOALS <br />Listed in order of priority as identified in ACD's 2020 Comprehensive Plan <br />extension are the five priority resource areas (underlined) with <br />corresponding goals (bulleted). <br />WATER QUALITY <br />• Maintain high quality surface waters. <br />• Improve impaired surface waters. <br />• Protect drinking water. <br />WATER QUANTITY <br />• Stop long-term depletion and where possible replenish aquifer levels. <br />• Control stormwater runoff and the resultant erosion. <br />• Reduce localized flooding and related damage. <br />NATURAL HABITATS <br />• Preserve and enhance diversity in Anoka County. <br />• Maintain ecological corridors and systems to support indigenous <br />wildlife. <br />WETLANDS <br />• Achieve no net loss in, and where possible improve, the quality and <br />quantity of wetlands. <br />SoILs <br />• Maintain and enhance soil health. <br />PURPOSE OF THE ANNUAL PLAN <br />The ACD's Annual Plan is a holistic natural resources management plan as <br />well as an operational and organizational plan for ACD as an entity. As <br />such, it addresses ecological resources as well as water resources. It also <br />allocates available staff and financial resources, and covers topics such as <br />needed staff training, adjustments in authorities, and ACD's cost share <br />policy. <br />The Annual Plan works in coordination with several other plans and work <br />products. Because monitoring, inventory and analyses are continuously <br />improving our understanding of the ever -changing environment and how <br />best to management it, it is critical for entities to remain vigilant and adaptive <br />to ensure maximum benefit from limited staff and financial resources.
