• Community Development: Inspections will continue as normal. Business and Peddlers
licenses have been temporarily suspended. See our Economic Development website for
more information regarding the effects on businesses in the community.
• Engineering: Technical staff will continue field work, including inspections necessary,
to support essential construction projects.
• Fire: No change in emergency response; no fire inspections, no burn permits or other
permits being issued.
• Parks: Park buildings, including public restrooms, closed until May 4. Portable toilets
are available for public use. All park playgrounds remain open, but residents should "play
at their own risk." Garbage containers will be monitored and emptied as needed.
• Police: Officers, deputies, and troopers will continue to patrol as usual. The Department of
Public Safety suggests that law enforcement agencies seek to educate instead of taking an
enforcement approach. Officers will address any complaints of violations of the
Governor's Executive Order on a case -by -case basis, beginning with an educational
discussion rather than an enforcement action. These are opportunities to talk about why
federal, state and local authorities are taking action to slow the spread of COVID-19.
• Public Works: The department will respond to any weather related emergencies (e.g.,
snow removal), road maintenance, critical road and storm sewer repairs, and critical
traffic signs maintenance. Street sweeping will also be performed.
The following events have been cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the most up-to-date information, please check our website: www.cityoframsey.com.
• April 4 - Business Expo has been postponed (New date TBD)
• May 2 - The Spring Recycling Event has been canceled.
• The City Council will consider the cancellation of future work sessions and regular
meetings as needed. All Parks and Recreation events including Yoga, and the Starwatch
Party have been cancelled through April 30. City staff will not be booking meetings in its
meeting rooms through May 4.
Rebate Program. Thanks to a Water Efficiency Grant from the Metropolitan Council, the City
will be implementing a new Water Efficiency Rebate program. Any property owner that is a
current Ramsey water utility customer (with an account in good standing) who replaces older,
inefficient toilets or irrigation controllers with new, US EPA WaterSense labeled products
purchased after May 1, 2020, is eligible to apply for a rebate. Rebates for either type of device are
$200 or the cost of the device, whichever is less, excluding sales tax and any labor/installation
costs. Rebates will be processed on a first come, first served basis through June 30, 2022 or until
grant funds have been exhausted. Program information will be available at
www.ciLyoframsey.com/750/WaLer-Efficiency-RebaLe-Program (note this site will be going live
early next week).
