CASE <br /> <br />REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO REOPEN HIRING PROCESS <br />FOR FULL-TIME PUBLIC WORKS SECRETARY <br /> Rhonda Heryla, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On June 26, 2001, the City Council authorized the hiring of Klm Salitros for the position <br />of Public Works Secretary. Ms. Salitros was set to begin employment July 16th, but has <br />since reconsidered her decision to accept the position. <br /> <br />Staff is now requesting authorization to contact the second qualified applicant based on <br />panel interviews and clerical tests held on June 25, 2001. In the event the second <br />applicant is no longer interested in the position, the Public Works Director and Human <br />Resources Manager would like to review the applicant pool and resume interviews once <br />again. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending the position be offered to the second qualified applicant at the <br />starting salary of $28,003 contingent upon successful completion of background checks, <br />physical examination, and drug/alcohol screen. In the event this applicant is not <br />interested, staff is recommending that the Public Works Director and Human Resources <br />Manger review the applicant pool to conduct additional interviews. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend the position of full-time Public Works Secretary be offered to the <br />second qualified applicant at a starting salary of $28,003 contingent upon successful <br />completion of background checks, physical examination, and drug/alcohol screen.
