CASE <br /> <br />CITIZEN PETITION SEEKING AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 8 <br />RAMSEY CITY CHARTER <br /> By: Jo Thieling, City Clerk <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />ri'he City Clerk received a petition from a group of citizens on April 4, 2005, to amend Chapter 8 <br />~)1' the City Charter. Such chapter is entitled Public Improvements and Special Assessments. <br />The petition was signed by 784 persons. The signatures have been verified and the amount was <br />determined sufficient. The number of signatures needed was 579 - the number of accepted <br />signatures totaled 638. <br /> <br />The City Attorney is reviewing the proposed amendment for legal issues to make certain its <br />provisions are permissible under Minnesota Law such that it can be presented to the votei's at an <br />election. The case written for the City Council by the City Attorney is attached to this case for <br />your review.
