Joe Feriancek <br />January 10, 2020 <br />Page 4 <br />Summary of Findings <br />A total of 8 cores were obtained along the shoulder of Variolite Street as shown in Figure 1. Four <br />cores obtained along the northbound shoulder had bituminous depths ranging from 3 inches to 4 <br />inches. 6 inches of sand and gravel was found where Core 1 was obtained, while the remaining <br />core locations (north of Core 1) did not have gravel but a sandy select granular material was <br />observed. Half of the cores were in poor condition showing deterioration. <br />Four cores obtained along the southbound shoulder had bituminous thicknesses of 3.5 inches to <br />3.75 inches. No gravel was found underneath the bituminous shoulder; underlying material was <br />select granular material. One of the cores had bottom lift exhibited poor condition, while the <br />remaining three cores were in good condition. <br />
