VARIOLITr ET RECONSTRUCTION <br />RECOMMENDATIONS (cont'd) <br />The following Staff recommendations are presented for Council <br />consideration and concurrence: <br />Staff recommends reconstructing the bituminous pavement using the <br />Stabilized Full Depth Reclamation method in compliance with MSA design <br />guidelines using 6-inches stabilized full depth reclamation, 2-inches new <br />bituminous base course, and 2-inches new bituminous wear course. <br />Staff recommends installing a concrete pedestrian refuge island in Variolite <br />Street north of i6ist Avenue, with advanced pedestrian crossing signs, and <br />ADA compliant pedestrian landings. <br />Staff recommends reducing the width of Variolite Street from 4o-feet to 34- <br />feet and postinga 4o mph speed limit between Alpine Drive and 163rd Lane <br />to promote traffic calming. <br />Staff recommends replacing the existing io-inch force main trunk sanitary <br />sewer with 21-inch gravity trunk sanitary sewer between 163rd Avenue and <br />i66th Avenue, and extending 12-inch trunk watermain from i66th Avenue to <br />173rd Avenue as recommended in the 204o Comprehensive Plan. <br />• <br />
