Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers DeLuca, Cich and <br />Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberPeterson. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: North Anoka County Arena Committee Request: <br /> <br />Doug Petty and Gar3, Johnson of the North Anoka County Arena Committee (NACAC) <br />were present seeking City of Ramsey support of their request for funding from Anoka <br />County to establish a multipurpose recreational facility at 205th Avenue N. and Hwy. #65. <br />Doug Petty stated that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners has requested that the <br />communities choosing to support the request of the NACAC do so by signing an agreement <br />indicating that they will not seek County f'mancial participation in any other ice arena in the <br />County. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that City Attorney Goodrich has reviewed the proposed agreement letter <br />and is concerned that City Council realizes that by agreeing to such a letter, Ramsey is <br />foregoing it's opportunity to support any expansion of existing or construction of new <br />arenas in Anoka County. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann noted that Anoka County contributed $400,000 each to the construction of <br />the Anoka and the Blaine ice arenas. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cich and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to direct City <br />Staff to draft a letter that will endorse the NACAC's request for Anoka County financial <br />participation in the construction of a multipurpose recreational facility without limiting the <br />City's ability to support any other future proposals for ice arenas in Anoka County. <br /> <br />City Council/April 10, 1990 <br /> Page 5 of 12 <br /> <br /> <br />
