69 <br />Access Management <br />The purpose of access << .,:;.. 1 is to provide adequate access to adjacent land development <br />while maintaining acceptable and safe traffic flow on higher level roadways. Access management <br />consists of carefully controlling the spacing and design of public street intersections and private <br />access points to the public roadway system. Because they are designed for higher speed, longer <br />distance trips, arterials generally have restricted access, while local sue. ca., ice.. c I I.late much <br />greater access. Collector roadways fall in between arterials and local roadways regarding the <br />amount of access that is permitted. <br />The agency with jurisdiction over a roadway sets access management guidelines. Access to US 10 <br />must meet MnDOT access management guidelines.
