CASE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION FOR PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR AZURITE <br />STREET NW IMPROVEMENT BETWEEN C.R. #116 AND FUTURE SUNWOOD DRIVE NW <br />Brian E. Olson, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />This section of road has been identified in the 2002 C.I.P. and would provide access, sewer, water and <br />storm sewer to over 44.6 acres of commercial and industrial property, identified as the Waste <br />Management property. Star Exhibits has come to the City with a development proposal that would <br />increase the timetable for construction of Azurite Street NW to the future Sunwood Drive NW. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />The City has completed negotiations to acquire an additional site along County Road 116, identified as <br />the Waste Management property. As part of those negotiations, the City has agreed to allow Star Exhibits <br />to develop a portion of that site. With development plans pending, the City will need to authorize the <br />street and utility work east of County Road 116. Attached is an illustration that identifies the layouts of <br />the new street. Azurite Street NW would be the name of the north - south street would extend to the <br />future Sunwood Drive NW. <br /> <br />This street and utility work would cost an additional $512,000 as estimated by Hakanson Anderson (see <br />attached letter). Hakanson Anderson has worked on the design of future Sunwood Drive NW as well as <br />the construction of the streets and utilities in Gateway North Industrial Park No. 5 completed last year. It <br />is our intent to hire Hakanson Anderson for design, staking and surveying of the plat for this project and <br />to hire John Oliver & Associates for the inspection. The cost for the inspection services is approximately <br />$19,200 and is included in the $512,000 mentioned above. <br /> <br />The funding for this project would come from Tax Increment Financing that will be created as part of <br />this project. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Authorize the hiring of Hakanson Anderson for the design, staking and platting services and John Oliver <br />and Associates for inspection services for the construction of Azurite Street street and utility project. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Director of Public Works <br /> <br />FC: 9/11/00 <br /> <br /> <br />
