Deputy City Administrator Gladhill reviewed the staff report and recommendation from the
Planning Commission to approve the Conditional Use Permit for the request deviations from
sign standards. Staff has received a few concerns about a portion of the design of the building
from an aesthetic perspective. On the south wall that extends above the roof next to the sign,
there is a “gap” in the wall to allow for mechanical access. Staff would like to encourage a
removable screen to blend with the overall design. This is not currently in the draft resolution
but could be added. The owner is generally supportive of this improvement.

Public Hearing

Mayor LeTourneau called the public hearing to order at 7:23 p.m.

Citizen Input

There was none.

Motion by Councilmember Heinrich, seconded by Councilmember Musgrove, to close the public
hearing.

A roll call vote was performed by the City Administrator:

Mayor LeTourneau aye
Councilmember Riley aye
Councilmember Menth aye
Councilmember Heinrich aye
Councilmember Kuzma aye
Councilmember Specht aye
Councilmember Musgrove aye

Motion carried.

The public hearing was closed at 7:25 p.m.

Council Business

Councilmember Riley asked if there have been any comments from other businesses in The COR
that may have interest in this issue.

Deputy City Administrator Gladhill stated that he is not aware of any comments from adjacent
properties or other retailers related to this request.

Councilmember Heinrich thanked staff and the Planning Commission for their work on these
cases.

Councilmember Specht echoed the comments of thanks to staff and the Planning Commission.

City Council / April 14, 2020
