Case #14: Consider Authorizing Bids for Municipal Center Project <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson advised that the design for the Municipal Center is nearing <br />completion, with the production of construction documents occurring by the end of March of <br />2005. The project will then be ready for the bidding process beginning in early April of 2005. <br />Thc bidding period is scheduled to begin on April 8, 2005, with the bid date established as May <br />5, 2005. Bid opening is scheduled for May 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1 for the <br />BKV/3D/I bid package. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to adopt Resolution #05- <br />03-086 Authorizing the Bidding Process for the City of Ramsey Municipal Center Project. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Gamec noted this had been reviewed and discussed at a recent work <br />session. Cheryle Baldinger, 3DI, stated they will fax out invitations to 300 bidders asking them <br />to present if they are interested. She stated they are seeing good interest in the project. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Jeffrey, Elvig, Pearson, <br />and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Olson. <br /> <br />Case #15: Report from Personnel Committee <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Accept Resignation / Retirement of Police Investigator and Authorize Staff to begin <br />the Recruitment Process for and Hire a Patrol Officer <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson reported that James Balabon has submitted a letter of <br />resignation from his position as Police Investigator effective June 30, 2005. Staff is <br />recommending that Mr. Balabon's resignation be accepted and the Council grant authorization to <br />begin the recruitment process to hire a Patrol Officer. The Police Department is also requesting <br />authorization to hire with ratification occurring at a regular Council meeting as soon as practical <br />after completing the recruitment and selection process. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented on the quality work James Balabon has provided to the City of <br />Ramsey and wished him an enjoyable retirement. <br /> <br />2) Consider Ratification of Hiring of Assistant Finance Officer <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson reported that staff was given authorization to recruit for an <br />Assistant Finance Officer and has reached agreement with a candidate who will start employment <br />on March 28, 2005. She stated the recommendation is to hire Sandra Carlson as Assistant <br />lhnancc Officer at an hourly wage of $30.90, contingent upon successful completion of criminal <br />and driver's license background checks, reference checks, and passing a pre-employment <br />physical aud drug screen, <br /> <br />City Council / March 22, 2005 <br /> Page 36 of 38 <br /> <br /> <br />
