4

CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
Topic Report: RTC Park Names
By: James E. Norman, City Administrator

Background:

There have been discussions in the recent weeks regarding the names of the parks in the
Ramsey Town Center (map attached). The two neighborhood parks, labeled as Item "E"
on the attached map are known as North and South Park. The two large Town Center
Parks, labeled as Item "F" (sometimes referred to as the Double "Swoosh" Parks) and the
two central parks Downtown Commons (C) and Civic Square (D) are the parks that have
been given names by the Master Developer. Discussions have centered on what should
be the appropriate names of the parks. Probably more importantly, it would be more
appropriate for the City to name the parks in the center of its community.

This topic has been added to the Council work session for general discussion and
possibly direction to assign further discussion to the Park and Recreation Commission
and Ramsey Town Center Task Force.

Action Statement:

Ba,s'ed upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator

CCWS: 05/03/05
