CASE #: RAMSEY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN PUBLIC HEARING DATES By: Principal Planner Patrick Trudgeon Background: At it's April 24th, 2001 meeting, the City Council referred the March 2001 Draf~ of the Comprehensive Plan to the Planning Commission to schedule public hearings regarding the draft Comprehensive Plan. The Metropolitan Council approved the March 2001 Draft at their meeting on March 28, 2001. The following items are enclosed: a) b) March 2001 Draft Comprehensive Plan (to be handed out Tuesday night). Metropolitan Council Staff Report - Ramsey Comprehensive Plan Observations: Staff proposes that at least one of the public hearings be an "informal" public hearing, where staff and commissioners will be at stations to discuss the details of the Comprehensive Plan one-on-one 'with residents. The second public hearing could take the more traditional route of a public hearing where people would come in front of the Planning Commission to testify in support or opposition to the Comprehensive Plan. There are several decisions that the Planning Commission needs to make. They are: 1) 2) 3) In what format should the public hearings take place? Should the public hearings occur at the regularly scheduled Plasming Commission meetings or on a separate day? If the public hearings are to occur on a separate day, which dates and at what time should they occur? Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Planning Commission choose the format and the dates of the public hearings regarding the 2001 Comprehensive Plan.
