CC Regular Session 5. 11. <br />Meeting Date: 07/28/2020 <br />By: Chloe McGuire Brigl, Community <br />Development <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution #20-160 Approving Abatement of 8050 147th Ave NW <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to approve an abatement for 8050 147th Ave NW (the "Subject Property"). The Subject <br />Property has vehicles parked on the grass in front of the building, in the street right-of-way, and has a significant <br />number of vehicles in violation of City Code for being inoperable or damaged parked in the rear yard. There is also <br />junk and other nuisance items in the yard of the property. <br />Notification: <br />No notification is required, but Staff did send the notice to the Property Owner. <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />Staff has sent three (3) notices of violation dating back to April 2020 to work with the property to gain compliance <br />with City Code. The notices are attached to this case. Staff has spoken to the Property Owner but has not seen <br />improvement on the Subject Property. Staff also spoke to the Property Owner about cleaning up the Subject <br />Property previously but never issued a formal notice of violation. Staff has received numerous complaints about the <br />Subject Property and its appearance. <br />Staff has attempted to be flexible and understanding of the Property Owner during Covid-19, however after almost <br />three (3) months, Staff believes that an abatement is the best path for the City to gain compliance with City Code <br />standards. The cost of the abatement will be assessed to the property taxes for the Subject Property, and any cars <br />towed from the Subject Property will be at cost of the owner. <br />Funding Source: <br />Staff handles all Code Enforcement as part of their regular duties. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff Recommends City Council Adopt Resolution #20-160 Approving Abatement of 8050 147th Ave NW <br />Action: <br />Motion to Adopt Resolution #20-160 Approving Abatement of 8050 147th Ave NW <br />Attachments <br />First Notice of Violation <br />Second Notice of Violation <br />Third Notice of Violation <br />Res #20-160 <br />Site Location Map <br />
