CASE #

AUTHORIZE SELECTION OF ARCHITECT FOR
RAMSEY TOWN CENTER FITNESS FACILITY
By: James E. Norman, City Administrator

Background:

Thc City Council discussed an architect for the proposed fitness center in work session on March
29 and April 5, 2005. It was the consensus of the City Council to seek Requests for Proposals
with qualifications prior to selection of an architect. A Request for Proposal (attached) was sent
out and two proposals were received.

Staff' reviewed thc proposals by Ankeny Kell Architects of St. Paul and DJR Architects Inc. of
Minneapolis. After review of both proposals, staff noted the station area planning for the
"Twinsvillc" project in Minneapolis at the proposed Minneapolis Rail Station for the Northstar
Commuter Rail project. Because of their knowledge of station area planning, staff recommends
I)JR of Minneapolis for the Ramsey Town Center Fitness Facility.

Council Action:

Motion to authorize staff to negotiate a contract with DJR of Minneapolis for the Ramsey Town
Ccntcr Fitness Facility.

Reviewed by:

(',ity Administrator

CC: I}5/10/05
