Mrs..Richter indicated this petition was initiated as a result of discussions by
Mr. Peter Tremaine and his neighbors regarding the extension of sewer and water to his
property. During an April 14, 2005 phone conversation with staff, Mr. Tremaine indicated
that he would like to petition the City for the extension of sewer and water to certain
properties in the Alpaca Estates subdivision. However, at this time, there is no information
regarding the details of his proposal. Mr. Tremaine and Mrs. Richter have been advised
that the petition will be presented to the Public Works Committee and both would have an
opportunity to express their requests and Concerns. Staff recommends that the petition be
accepted by the Public Works Committee and that-it be forwarded to City Council.

Motion to recommend to City Council to accept the Petition from Alpaca Estates residents.

Action:

Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

CASE #4

CONSIDER AUTHORIZING SIDEWALK REPAIRS IN THE
PONDS SUBDIVISION

Background:

Staff reviewed that the City began to install concrete sidewalks in 2002 but at that time had
not yet developed standard plates detailing the City's sidewalk requirements. During the
construction of The Ponds subdivision, the contractor was verbally advised that sidewalks
must be six inches thick through driveways. During that period, the City relied on MnDOT
specifications, and MnDOT standard plate 7035J requires six-inch thickness of concrete in
private driveways and sidewalks crossing private driveways. The developer's contractor
informed the City's inspector that it was their intention to slip form the entire sidewalk
four inches thick and then return to replace the sections through driveways once their
locations were determined.

-358-
