to 35, and they would lobby the Commissioner of MnDOT to get that, but they are "rolling <br />thc dice" a little bit here. <br /> <br />Motion to recommend that the City Council adopt a resolution requesting that a speed <br />stmly be conducted along the length of Riverdale Drive from Ramsey Boulevard to <br />Tungsten Street for the purpose of establishing appropriate speed limits through this <br />segment of roadway. <br /> <br />Actio~t: <br /> <br />Adopt attached resolution 05-05-XXX requesting a speed study along the length of <br />Riverdale Drive from Ramsey Boulevard to Tungsten Street for the purpose of establishing <br />appropriate speed limits though this segment of roadway. <br /> <br />CASE #6 UPDATE ON TH47 SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />This project has been discussed previously by the Public Works Committee at the January <br />and February meetings. The elements of the project which are included in the draft plans <br />that are consistent with the recommendations of the City Council are as follows: <br /> <br />Construction of a three-fourths access median at TH 47 and 142nd Avenue (The <br />current plans are not sufficiently detailed to show whether the existing cross walk <br />is being removed, as requested by the Council) <br />Construction of a free right turn lane for eastbound CSAH 5 to southbound TH 47 <br />Construction of a north bypass lane at 157th AvenUe <br />The removal of the "hump" south of 160th Avenue <br /> <br />The City Council requested two additional elements which are not currently included <br />within the scope of this project. The City requested that a pedestrian signal be installed in <br />thc vicinity of 142nd Avenue and that turn lanes be installed at 180th Lane. MnDOT has <br />advised that they would not be able to get the turn-lanes in at 180th Lane with this project <br />due to utility, bridge (Ford Brook crosses TH 47 450 feet north of 180th Lane), and timing <br />problems. These can either go in later through a permit by the City or MnDOT could <br />install them a portion of another project in the next three to four years. <br /> <br />[t was noted that the memo in the staff report advises of the need for a couple of detours <br />associated with this project. The first detour would come early in the project when traffic <br />would be rerouted between CR 116 and TH 10 while the segment through Anoka was <br />being overlaid. Another detour would be required for a short duration when the "hump" is <br />bei~g removed south of 167th Avenue. The~other project elements would be conStructed <br />trader traflic. <br /> <br />Action: <br />No action requested. <br /> <br />-361- <br /> <br /> <br />
